Among the famous tourist cities in Vietnam, Hue is unique. It is a beautiful, quiet and relaxing city, rich in nature, architecture, and art.
Hue is also the only city in Vietnam that has a poetic river flows its way through the city. Perfume River and the historic Trang Tien Bridge have become a symbol of Hue romance and charm.
Hue is best known for its imperial citadel, royal mausoleums, and iconic pagodas. Not only a favorite destination for architectural enthusiasts, but Hue also makes a mecca for gastronomes in Vietnam. The city boasts a rich and fantastic cuisine. About two thousands of Vietnamese traditional dishes take origins from Hue and eating and drinking has become a refined art in this old capital of Vietnam.
With an international airport, Da Nang has become the gateway to Central Vietnam. This coastal city is favorably located near three UNESCO heritage sites: Hue imperial city, Hoi An ancient town and My Son holy land.
Mirrored in the poetic Thu Bon River, the little postcard-setting Hoi An is perhaps the most beautiful old town in Vietnam. Not as majestic as Hue or flamboyant as Cho Lon in Saigon, Hoi An with its gentle grace is a big surprise to any jaded mind. Its quiet lanes lighted with lanterns, sleeping old houses and dazzling riverfront restaurants, carry an echo of history and charm.
Ho Chi Minh City went by several different names: the French figuratively put it “Pearl of the Far East”, the American named it “Saigon” and the Chinese called it “Cho Lon”.
Can Tho is the heart of Mekong Delta, formerly the Capital of southern Vietnam or Tay Do. It is a city of poetic landscape, vibrant local markets and fantastic food. Wandering around its revierside streets lined with restaurants and cafes, indulging in cool breeze from the Hau river and wrapping up a day in magnificent sunset, you will catch an essence of the city. Can Tho also makes a great base to explore the endless waterways of Mekong Delta.
Ben Tre is a little province in the east of Mekong Delta, being wedged between two main arms of Tien River. Ben Tre shares borders with Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, and Vinh Long. It has one township also called Ben Tre and 7 other small districts, including Ba Tri, Binh Dai, Chau Thanh, Cho Lach, Giong Trom, Mo Cay, and Thanh Phu. The province also accounts for the greatest part of Khmer ethnic population of the region.
Siem Reap is the capital of a province bearing the same name in northwest Cambodia. Located 300 km north of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap becomes a gateway to the Angkor region. Siem Reap is alluring huge crowd for its Angkor Temples (Buddhist Pagodas or Wats) around 7 km away from downtown. Siem Reap means the “Defeat of Siam” and refers to the centuries-old conflict between the Siam (now Thailand) and Khmer people.
The famous archaeological site of Angkor is located 7 km from Siem Reap downtown. This monumental complex comprises more than a hundred temples, palaces and pagodas built between the ninth and fourteenth century during the reign of King Suryavarman II.
Sihanoukville draws huge crowd for its secluded beaches and islands. A small archipelago is embedded by the Sihanoukville Bahia off its south and west coast. Beaches that line the west contour of the city from north to south are Victory Beach, Lamherkay Beach, Koh Pos Beach, Independence Beach, Sokha Beach, Serendipity Beach, Ochheuteal Beach and many others. The most popular beaches are Ochheuteal, Sokha, Independence and Victory. Tourists can take water taxis to the nearby islands for diving, snorkeling and game fishing.
Phnom Penh is a city of amazing architecture stamped with diverse influences, mainly French. Phnom Penh also makes a perfect base for many fantastic discoveries to surrounding areas.
