Upon arrival in Hanoi, you will be welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel. Hanoi is one of Asia's most charming cities, with its romantic tree-lined boulevards and colonial houses. The day is free for your own exploration and shopping. Overnight at hotel.
A full day spent touring Hanoi, the political, economic and cultural capital of Vietnam. Starting with the Museum of Ethnology (closed on Mondays), which offers informative and well-documented information on the country’s 54 ethnic groups, including elaborate and colorful hill-tribe costumes. The display continues in the outside garden with fascinating examples of traditional houses from the Kinh’s to the ethnic groups of the Central Highlands. We will then visit the Temple of Literature, a temple built in honor of Confucius in 1070, and served as the first Royal National University in Vietnam founded in 1076. This temple and its beautiful garden provide an opportunity to learn more about the Mandarin education that has shaped Vietnam for 1000 years and to relax in this tranquil setting. The afternoon is spent exploring the alleys of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, visit Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple or the Jade Mountain Temple situated in the heart of Hanoi. A delightful water puppet show will perfectly wrap up our day. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast, we depart to Halong Bay, passing beautiful scenery along the way full of lush rice paddies and winding rivers, typical of the Red River Delta. We will arrive at Halong’s tourist wharf around noon and embark a classic wooden junk. Lunch will be served as the boat gently cruises past numerous islands and limestone structures rising from the emerald waters of the bay. It is also an ideal opportunity to enjoy the sea breeze and refresh your soul. An experienced chef will prepare a fresh seafood dinner. Overnight on board in your private cabin.
Enjoy breakfast and savor the incredible sunrise from the sundeck while the boat sails to Luon Cave and one of Halong’s floating villages then back to the harbor. On the way back to Hanoi, we will stop in Bac Ninh province to visit Vietnam's first Buddhist centre, the But Thap Pagoda, which was built in the 13th century and reconstructed during the 17th century. It is renowned for its valuable statues, the most remarkable of which is a thousand-handed and thousand-eyed Buddha considered a masterpiece of Vietnamese sculpturing. Continue the drive to Hanoi. Overnight at hotel.
Breakfast at hotel before you are taken to the airport for the flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival, you will be driven to Luang Prabang, a World Heritage site recognized by UNESCO as the best-preserved city in South East Asia. Start exploring this charming town with its impressive Wat Visoun, Wat Aham and Wat Mai Temples. We then climb to the top of Mount Phousi to discover its sacred, gilded stupa as well as enjoy the panoramic view of the city and the sunset over the Mekong. Return to Luang Prabang to visit the night market where lovely handicraft items are sold. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
In the morning, we visit the oldest temple Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its sweeping roofs, typical for classical Laotian architecture. We then embark a boat to cruise upstream on the Mekong, a scenic journey with breathtaking views of the tranquil countryside and a glance of waterfront life. Discover the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two caves linked to one another filled with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes donated by pilgrims. Along the way, we will stop at Ban Xanghai village, where local rice wine is produced. On return, we take a short drive to Ban Phanom, a small village known for its amazing woven handicrafts. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Early rise for the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning ritual of the saffron-clothed monks who collect alms, most commonly sticky rice, from residents of faith. Laos is the only Buddhist nation still preserving the tradition of this procession. Visit the morning Phousi market where various local products such as dried buffalo skin, local tea and salt are on offer alongside chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Laotians are skilled in traditional handicrafts, as you will discover the in villages of Laos’ ethnic groups in Ban Ouay and Ban Thapene. We then head to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall where you can splash around in the turquoise pools or walk along the forest paths. Return to Luang Prabang by late afternoon and continue our discovery of the region at Ban Phanom, a well-known weaving village, we then return to the city to watch the sunset at Wat Siphouthabath. Overnight in Luang Prabang
We depart from this charming city in the early morning for Vang Vieng. The journey will be rough yet scenic as we drive along the winding mountainous road. Stop enroute to visit Phoukhoune bustling market. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, we arrive in Vang Vieng, a small and tranquil town nestled on the bank of the Nam Song River. Its stunning scenery, quiet atmosphere and limestone outcrops remains offers an untouched environment. Cruise on the Nam Song River to visit Tham Jang cave which was used in the early 19th century in defense against the Chinese invaders. Overnight in Vang Vieng.
The drive to the capital city Vientiane located on the banks of the Mekong, will take half a day. Vientiane is a charming and fascinating capital, with an intriguing mix of Laotian, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, Soviet and American influences. You will stop to visit Xieng Khuan Buddha Park, perhaps the most attractive destination in Laos. You will then continue the drive along the Mekong, passing lush gardens, tobacco plantations and rice paddies. Stop to take photos before driving over the Thai – Lao friendship bridge spanning over the Mekong. It serves as the border post between the two countries. Drive back to Vientiane for overnight stay.
We will spend a full day visiting Vientiane's highlights starting with Wat Sisaket Temple, the oldest one in the city. We then continue to the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaew, which was once home to the sacred Emerald Buddha statue, the Prabang. Be charmed by the imposing Patouxai Monument known as Vientiane’s very own Arc de Triomphe, and the splendid That Luang Stupa, Laos’ national symbol. Enjoy the spectacular view over the Mekong River. Overnight in Vientiane.
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport for the flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel. We start our trip by visiting the Roluos Temple Group built between 877-889, situated 13km outside Siem Reap. They were constructed during the first Angkor settlement of the ancient Khmer. The group boasts three temples:
- Bakong is the most impressive of the three, much older than Angkor Wat it features beautiful carvings on its lintels that remain in good shape
- Preahko Temple is close to Bakong and consists of six elegant brick towers with exquisite decorations and statues of Nandi, Shiva's sacred bull.
- Lolei Temple constructed in 893, is an island temple dedicated to members of the royal family and the Hindu god Shiva.

After breakfast, we will visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom also referred to as "Great City", the famous Bayon Temple built in the late 12th century and the Baphoun Temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, the Terrace of Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper King and Phimean Akas known as "Heavenly Palace".
In the afternoon, we will tour the World Heritage site "Angkor Wat", the world's largest religious building. We continue our day with a visit to Bakheng Hill Temple and watch the sunset from the top of the hill. Back to the hotel. Dinner with special Aspara dance show. Overnight in Siem Reap
Morning visit to the “Small Circuit” group of temples including Ta Prohm overgrown with the roots of enormous fig trees. This is one of Jayavarman VII's first major temple projects dedicated to his mother, Thommanon built at the same time as Angkor Wat and Chau Say Tevoda Temple, Banteay Kdei surrounded by four concentric walls, Srah Srang or “The Royal Baths" which was used for bathing rituals and Ta Keo known as “The Mountain with Golden Peaks” dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
The afternoon will be spent visiting the “Grand Circuit” including Pre Rup, a temple mountain with beautiful bas reliefs and excellent views of the surrounding countryside, East Mebon a large temple mountain dedicated to Shiva in honor of the king’s parents, Tasom the most distant temple of the Grand Circuit, Neak Pean a small island temple originally dedicated to Buddha, it is most photogenic during the wet season and finishing off the tour will be Preah Khan dedicated to Jayavarman VII's father. Overnight at hotel.
We will start our morning with a visit to Beng Melea temple located 60km east of the city, a 2 hour drive. The temple was constructed around the same time as and in the style of Angkor Wat. It is hidden in the middle of a lush jungle, an ideal place for those looking for an off the beaten track adventure in Cambodia. Picnic lunch on the way. We will then visit Koh Keh, which used to be the most remote and inaccessible Angkor temple complex, but thanks to reconstruction, the road is now in good condition. Overnight in Siem Reap.
After breakfast we commence our drive to Phnom Penh. En route we will visit a stone carving workshop and the temple of Kuha Nokor which was built during the reign of King Suryavarman I (1002-1050). This temple is made of laterite and decorated with sandstone lintels and pillars. Overnight at hotel in Phnom Penh.
In the morning, we will visit the National Museum then the Silver Pagoda situated inside the Royal Palace complex and Wat Phnom considered the spiritual heart of Phnom Penh. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will travel to Chau Doc in Vietnam by speedboat. Arrive in Chau Doc in the late afternoon where our local guide will meet you and bring you to the hotel. Overnight at hotel in Chau Doc.
In the morning, you will take a boat trip to visit a number of floating houses and fish farms where you can feed the fish and discover life on the water. You will then be taken to Sam Mountain which offers fantastic views of Chau Doc and Cambodia’s countryside on the other side of the border. On the way, drop by a village of the Cham minority group. Drive to Can Tho for overnight stay.
Ưe take an early morning boat trip through the winding waterways of Cai Rang floating market, the biggest and busiest floating market in the Mekong Delta. This is the best time to visit the market, as it is crowded with hundreds of sampans that offer fruit, vegetables, plants, food and other goods for trade. This is the perfect opportunity to take photos, communicate with locals and taste fresh tropical fruis. Leave the market, and return to Saigon. On the way back, stop at an old Binh Thuy house 5kms from Can Tho city and Long Dinh mat weaving village where you will witness the making of a mat, a very popular item closely associated with Vietnamese culture. Overnight in Saigon.
In the morning we will drive to Cu Chi district to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, which are 60 kilometers northwest of downtown Ho Chi Minh City. The Cu Chi Tunnel system was created around 1948 to assist the Viet Minh in their combat against French occupiers. Construction and enlargement continued during American bombings and they were turned into an underground city with living areas, kitchens, storage, weapon factories and field hospitals. The Cu Chi Tunnels could house up to 10,000 people who lived underground for years, getting married and raising children. During the Vietnam - American War the entire area of Cu Chi was designated as a fire free zone yet was heavily bombarded. Since 1988, two sections of the tunnels are open for visitors to crawl through and better understand the war.
We will continue to Tay Ninh to visit Cao Dai Temple with its exotic daily mass for Caodaism followers at noon. Caodaism is a combination of Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, native Vietnamese spiritualism, Christianity and Islam. Three saints are being worshiped: Sun Yat-Sen, Victor Hugo and Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm.
Return to Saigon. Overnight at hotel.
In the morning, visit Cho Lon, Vietnam’s largest China Town where you can shop to your hearts content and sample the fabulous cuisine. The central market in Cho Lon is the Binh Tay Market, which offers a wide range of products from food to clothing. Drop by Thien Hau Temple and Giac Lam Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in the city. Back to the city centre to visit Notre Dame Cathedral built in 1877 and the Central Post Office, built by the French. The tour ends with visiting the Reunification Palace formerly known as the Independence Palace. It served as the home and workplace of the President of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Overnight at hotel.
Free time for a last bit of shopping or exploring the city on your own before we take you to Tan Son Nhat airport for your flight home. The hotel room is available until noon only. Asiatica Travel's services end here.

Luang Prabang is the ancient capital of Laos and royal residence of the kings. An eventful and sometimes turbulent history has shaped the richness of Luang Prabang that can be found in temples and monuments hidden in its lush settings. It's the rich heritage that earned Luang Prabang reputation of a World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO.
Around Luang Prabang, magnificent natural sceneries abound everywhere: steep mountains, lush jungle, immense river, impressive waterfalls and mystical caves. The area is very rich in cultural heritage too. You will experience the daily countryside life, visit ethnic people, take a boat trip along the river and try a bit elephant trekking to experience a real glimpse of Luang Prabang.
Vang Vieng is a small village nestled on the banks of the Nam Song River and surrounded by a landscape of plains, mountain peaks and tranquil rivers.
Stretching out on the north-eastern bank of a Mekong River bend, Vientiane reserves a great number of wonders. The city used to be capital of the Kingdom of Lan Xang literally “Million Elephants”.
Siem Reap is the capital of a province bearing the same name in northwest Cambodia. Located 300 km north of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap becomes a gateway to the Angkor region. Siem Reap is alluring huge crowd for its Angkor Temples (Buddhist Pagodas or Wats) around 7 km away from downtown. Siem Reap means the “Defeat of Siam” and refers to the centuries-old conflict between the Siam (now Thailand) and Khmer people.
The famous archaeological site of Angkor is located 7 km from Siem Reap downtown. This monumental complex comprises more than a hundred temples, palaces and pagodas built between the ninth and fourteenth century during the reign of King Suryavarman II.
Phnom Penh is a city of amazing architecture stamped with diverse influences, mainly French. Phnom Penh also makes a perfect base for many fantastic discoveries to surrounding areas.
Chau Doc is an interesting destination to explore: its spectacular mountains, unique floating fishing houses, and historic temples and pagodas.
Thanks to its 100km border with Cambodia, Chau Doc is getting more and more popular among travelers who are interested in entering Cambodia via the waterway.
Can Tho is the heart of Mekong Delta, formerly the Capital of southern Vietnam or Tay Do. It is a city of poetic landscape, vibrant local markets and fantastic food. Wandering around its revierside streets lined with restaurants and cafes, indulging in cool breeze from the Hau river and wrapping up a day in magnificent sunset, you will catch an essence of the city. Can Tho also makes a great base to explore the endless waterways of Mekong Delta.
Tay Ninh and Cu Chi are major destinations near Ho Chi Minh City. Both are made famous worldwide by the Vietnam-American war and each has its own appeal. Tay Ninh is the cradle of Cao Dai religion in Vietnam, home to the tasty Trang Bang Noodle Soup and the legendary Ba Den Mountain. Cu Chi is best known for its amazing underground world, an intricate system of tunnels once serving as concrete bases of Vietnamese guerillas during the war.
Ho Chi Minh City went by several different names: the French figuratively put it “Pearl of the Far East”, the American named it “Saigon” and the Chinese called it “Cho Lon”.
Ho Chi Minh City, formerly named Saigon, is Vietnam's largest city with 7.5 million inhabitants. The city with the area of 2090 km2 is divided into 19 districts and 5 districts and District 1 is the center of the city.
Ho Chi Minh City is the most modern and bustling city of Vietnam. Within its bustle, however, its glorious past is still shining through a myriad of monuments and colonial structures.
